Enhancing Patient Outcomes in Head and Neck Cancer: Strategies for Managing Mucositis
 
Mucositis is the major dose-limiting toxicity for patients undergoing intensive chemoradiation therapy for head and neck cancer. Mucositis imposes a substantial clinical and economic burden. Designed for oncologists, radiation oncologists, and nurses, this 1-hour continuing education monograph reviews current strategies for assessing and managing mucositis in patients undergoing treatment for head and neck cancer. Among the topics addressed are the pathobiology of mucositis, scales for grading mucositis severity, clinical assessment tools, and current standards of care as defined in practice guidelines.
