Program Description
Each 1-hour interactive teleconference includes a short introduction, a 30-minute presentation, and a 20-minute question-and-answer session with a member of the faculty. Participants are encouraged to ask questions to ensure a lively discussion.

This Web site contains faculty names and affiliations and the teleconference schedule from October 19 to December 7, 2005. To register, please follow the instructions found below. Five days prior to your scheduled teleconference you will receive a continuing education workbook containing information regarding your participation in the program, or you can download a copy by clicking on Program Workbook. To qualify for continuing education credit, you must participate for the entire teleconference and submit the evaluation form found in the workbook.

Target Audience
Cardiologists, Endocrinologists, Nephrologists, Primary Care Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners

Goal
To provide physicians, nurses, and physician assistants with current data and expert commentary on the challenges and importance of managing patients with hypertension and increased cardiovascular risk.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Identify the importance of CV risk management for patients with hypertension.
Discuss the results of recently completed studies, such as the Anglo-Scandinavian Cardiac Outcomes Trial (ASCOT), and their relevance to clinical practice.
Identify effective management strategies to achieve improved patient outcomes.


Accreditation
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of New York Medical College (NYMC) and the Continuing Education Alliance. NYMC is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. NYMC designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credit(s) that he/she actually spent in the activity.

This activity for 1.2 contact hours is provided by the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Nursing Continuing Nursing Education, which is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Iowa Provider #78. Additionally, provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #13699 for 1.2 contact hours.

AAPA accepts category 1 credit from AOACCME, prescribed credit from the AAFP, and AMA category 1 CME credit for the PRA from organizations accredited by ACCME.
